Philadelphia Paternity and Fathers' Rights Attorney

With advances in the accuracy of genetic testing, there really isn't any excuse left for being unsure of the paternity of a child. Paternity is an important issue for mothers and fathers, as it is the gateway to making sure children have the support they need and that parents are able to fulfill their important role in raising their children.

If you need help resolving a paternity issue and doing what is in the best interest of your child, you need an experienced attorney on your side. For more than 17 years, I have been standing up for mothers and fathers throughout the Greater Philadelphia area and making sure that children know who their parents are and receive the support they need. How Do You Establish Paternity?

In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, when a married woman gives birth, it is presumed that her husband is the father of the child. When a child is born outside of marriage, DNA testing can be used to establish paternity, or it can be established by a course of conduct (such as voluntarily providing support) or the signing of a Voluntary Paternity Acknowledgement form.

If you believe you are the father of a child and wish to establish your parental rights, or if you are the mother of a child and hope to obtain the support your child needs, contact the Law Offices of Richard B. Bost to discuss your situation.

Don't Let Your Rights Be Denied

I understand why many fathers feel disadvantaged in a system that seems to favor mothers and make it more difficult for a father to be involved in the life of his child. However, you do have rights, but you must take action to enforce them. Before being granted any custody or visitation rights, an unmarried father must establish paternity. On the flip side, fathers cannot be ordered to pay child support until paternity is established.
